In 1994 a small group of riding friends was hanging out in the Fairmount Park section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They stood at the Plateau, affectionately known as the "Plat", and decided to officially unite under the name of Double Lyte Posse (DLP). The name came from the fact that all of the founding members' bikes had two headlights — double lights.

What really makes Double Lyte Posse stand out isn't just that they are a family-orientated group of avid motorcyclists, but they have a strong commitment to philanthropy. On their website they state, "One of the core commitments of DLP has been to always remember those that are less fortunate than we." In 2005 DLP was granted the classification of a 501(c)3 Non Profit Organization, under the name of Double Lyte Posse Sportbike M/C of Pennsylvania.

Over the past decade and a half Double Lyte Posse has successfully grown their membership and their involvement in both community and civic affiliations. Members of DLP never hesitate to volunteer their time, money, food, or whatever is needed and they participate in many programs benefiting those in need, including the Philadelphia AIDS Walk, Breast Cancer: Walk for the Cure, Stop the Violence, Harriet Tubman Group Home for Girls, Philadelphia Public Schools: Truancy Program, Maplewood Manor Nursing Home: Game Night Volunteers and the Town Watch Integrated Services: National Night Out in which they received the Town Watch Integrated Services Volunteer of the Year Award.

The Double Lyte Posse is very proud of their charity work and involvement in the community, as well they should be, but they do get some riding done between their volunteer work. DLP members love street riding, dirt riding and amateur racing. They enjoy riding year-round, including local rides in the tri-state area and weekend trips throughout Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Ohio and longer road trips to Black Bike Week in Mrytle Beach, the National Bikers Roundup and the Cycle World International Motorcycle Shows® in New York City and Washington, D.C.
