The YZF-R1 is the only production motorcycle with crossplane technology offering torquey low rpm power followed by very strong high rpm power. There’s also fly-by-wire technology; chip controlled intake; and Yamaha D-MODE rider-selectable throttle control maps (one mode that lets the rider enjoy sportier engine response and a second mode offering somewhat lesser output). Plus, new for 2010, the R1 LE comes as a limited edition Valentino Rossi / Fiat Yamaha M1 replica complete with the number “46”, “The Doctor” logos, and a replica of Valentino Rossi’s signature on the fuel tank.
