Tales of Speed and Adventure in Chicago

Join author, rider, tour guide Liz Jansen and her guests, women riders of influence, as they take you on a very different kind of motorcycle adventure. She will be joined in Chicago by radio personality Gina Woods and entrepreneur Denise Maple.

As host and executive producer of Open Road Radio, Gina's lively programs have wide appeal for all bike fans, with engaging guests and topics ranging from motorcycle rallies to maintenance. She has interviewed celebrities from Jay Leno to Robbie Knievel.

Frustrated by the lack of options in style and fit, Denise founded Vavavroom,  a womenís motorcycle apparel company, in 2007.  Her goal was to provide female motorcycle enthusiasts with fashionable, functional motorcycle clothing and gear for women of all sizes. VaVaVroom is not only an apparel company, but a supportive community of women that all have a passion for riding.

Motorcycles have transformed these women's lives, and the lives of those around them in very different ways. The lessons they've learned through riding extend well beyond the skills required to ride a bike. They'll talk about how motorcycling can make us more aware of our strengths, the strength of community and the ability to effect positive change. Most importantly, they'll reveal how it taught them to move past misconceptions, past barriers between them and their goals, opening up a whole new world of freedom and strength.

Liz's book "Women, Motorcycles and the Road to Empowerment" explores the relationship between women, motorcycling and personal power. Using her own story as a framework, forty-nine other women motorcyclists share stories of how they have tapped into that power and how it has shaped their lives. She will be available for book signings at Booth 2038.
