Coleman PowerSports Sees Success at Washington D.C. IMS

We caught up with Coleman PowerSports after the 2018/19 tour to find out what they thought about their experience exhibiting as a dealership on the floor at Washington, D.C. IMS.

DEALERSHIP - ABOUT COLEMAN POWERSPORTS

Coleman PowerSports has been a mainstay in the Virginia and Washington, D.C. area for more than 50 years by providing residents and enthusiasts with ready access to a vast inventory of motorcycles, three-wheelers, watersports equipment and much more from brands such as Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Ducati, Polaris, Victory, Slingshot, Can-Am, Vanderhall and Seadoo.

COLEMAN’S OBJECTIVE - BOOST AWARENESS OUTSIDE OF THE DEALERSHIP AND SUPPORT NICHE OEM’S

Coleman PowerSports business objective was to continue to personally reach motorcyclists throughout the entire DC Metro area, as well as introduce their new product line of Vanderhall vehicles.. With Vanderhall, Polaris, and also Can-AM, choosing to not have a corporate presence at Washington, D.C. IMS, Coleman PowerSports saw an opportunity to broaden its consumer base and showcase these models to their benefit.

THE SOLUTION - EXHIBITING AT IMS

With three booths spread out over Washington D.C. IMS, including a feature 20x40 booth showcasing the new Can-Am Ryker and Vanderhall Venice, Coleman was able to highlight its newest products with an impressive presence. “The turn out was huge with respect to interest in the Vanderhall and Can-Am models and our booth was constantly flush with avid riders and enthusiasts who were curious about these new products,” said Kim Harrison, General Manager of Coleman Powersports. “We had show specials on all of our offered products and gave consumers the ability to receive promotional offers based on their experience though a tablet based survey we had set up.”

In addition to featuring Can-Am, Vanderhall and Polaris, Coleman PowerSports partnered with regional Ducati dealers to showcase the full 2018 and 2019 models from the Itailan marquee and also set up an accessories booth, selling helmets and riding gear directly to consumers.

THE OUTCOME - POSITIVE ROI

With their participation at the Washington D.C. IMS, Coleman PowerSports increased their accessory sales by 10%, added more than 1,000 new leads to their database, and elevated awareness regarding their inventory of Vanderhall and Can-Am products, and increased lead generation for potential customers. “If dealers make the decision to do the show they need to be 100% committed to working the floor and getting leads,” said Harrison.  “Just showing up with a booth and sign is not going to give you a return on your investment. It takes hard work, adequate staffing and a plan to be successful.”
